Murder in... collection: volume 2, 6 films

After watching the films in volume 1, I took my time and appreciated each investigation presented in volume 2. The stories are diverse and some are very interesting in that the underlying theme is not dealt with very much in other criminal series that I have seen. For instance, the film entitled Murder in the Somme deals with the serious consequences, on a police investigation, of general corruption in the administration of a small town, including corruption in the police department. Another example appears in Murder in Collioure, where the investigation comes to a halt or impasse more than once because of the absence of sufficient information. The resolution of this case is made very difficult by the fact that the inspectors must finally go back in time, to events that occurred during World War II. The film demonstrates, I think, how difficult some criminal cases are and why some cannot be solved. Murder in Avignon is another type of investigation which amateurs of archeology will like. All investigations are conducted by different teams of inspectors, made up of a woman and a man.

Murder In... collection: volume 1, 6 films
Review by Yolande on 02/25/22 review stating Murder In... collection: volume 1, 6 films
I have watched the first series of 6 films. Most are well done, with great scenery in regions where my brother and I were in 2018, namely Aveyron, Lozere and the Cevennes mountains. I would give a ranking of 4 stars to Murder in the Cevennes and 5 stars to the other films. In the Cevennes film, some of the young actors lack naturalness in their role. All the experienced actors and actresses are very good, especially the team of three of the films: Elizabeth and Paul. French-speaking persons like me appreciate their quick quarrels which contain games of words and wit, and sometimes end up being funny or humoristic. Obviously, they are measuring their mutual strength and the relationship is interesting in its evolution. The plot of Fresange, with the creation of the elixir of youth, is unusual and based on the legendary sayings about the liqueurs created by monks. Murder in Batz was shot during stormy and very windy weather, and this creates a proper atmosphere for the story. Quite courageous! They are good stories in general.
